TN: are Yalumba wines ever bad??

2008 Shiraz-Voignier; Eden Valley; Yalumba
black pepper, ripe round black plum, herbs, and cassis, slightly leafy, a touch of wild mint and sweet applewood. Violets, and dark flowers. Warm and pleasing with a friendly but reserved charactar. Nicely balanced and poised with some Barossa charactar that doesn’t knock you sideways but shows its quality and verve. Nice herby length and poise. Soft tannins and good acid levels give it a lift that hints at ageability, but it is lovable now, and somehow works well with some modern jazz/boss’s-nova from a rough voice (sorry we are listening to it and it fits nicely) :stuck_out_tongue: An excellent Côte-Rôtie clone but minus the terroir (no it shows Eden Valley well and has a mineral charactar) of the region! ***(+) or [4.5+4.5+4+4=17/20]

I don’t think I’ve ever had one that I didn’t enjoy at its various price points. Surely this is what Penfold’s should be??
