TN: Anthill Farms Abbey Harris Pinot Noir 2006

Thank you Mr. Meadows…

This was simply awesome, and really bummed I own only 1 more of these (split my allo last year with 2 others).

Had to open one b/c I hadn’t tried these wines at all. Really rich flavor with good depth (for a Cali Pinot) and loads of purple fruits. White pepper on the finish, with good acid and just a hint of sweet oak on the finish. After the Shane The Unknown that I finished last night (quite good, but totally Cali Syrah at the end of the day, and left me feeling a little off too), I need something more tame, and this hit the spot. I would strongly encourage holding this for a while longer (may 4 to 5 more years, let that sweetness chill out), but this has loads of promise.

Wish I bought a few of these last year - I had one at Passion Fish after the wines were released, WAY too young but the compontents were still easily recognizable. Hopefully I’ll be able to start buying these again next year.

Thanks for the note Ian, I only bought 2 and have unusually refrained from opening one ( not like me at all) sounds like I made a good choice.

This was purely morbid curiousity. I rearranged some stuff in the cellar the other night and have been aching to try these. They clearly are heading in the right direction.

like The Bengals!

My mouth is watering. I, too, have a few bottles. I’ll try to leave them alone for a few years.

Coincidentally, I just received an e-mail from the Antfarm boys saying that I got my wish-listed additional three bottles of the '07 Abbey Harris. Yeah, baby!

Opening these only made me pissed I passed on this years offer. The things you do when you get Lillian Blue Label and Rhys.

Glad to hear this wine is doing well. I tried it on release and while primary it ranks among the very best CA PNs I’ve ever had. Also glad I didn’t pass on 2007. This and Rivers-Marie will be the last PN wineries to go as the economy keeps sicking for CA employees.
Now as for 2008, I wonder what will happen? Given the scenario in Anderson Valley, with frost, fires, etc I just don’t see very much wine going around.
