TN: Abrente Albarino '11...(short/boring)

Just off the boat, tried last night:

  1. Abrente Albarino MapaVlly (13.0%) Morgan Twain-Peterson/MichaelHavens 2011: Med.yellow color; lovely very fragrant/floral/carnations/spicy some stoney/mineral/perfumed talc slight metallic/steely classic Albarino very perfumed/fragrant nose; quite tart/steely/mineral/stoney light floral/carnations/spicy bit disolved CO2 (?) bright/bracing flavor; very long bright/floral/carnations rather steely/mineral/stoney finish; a classic Albarino but more floral aromatics than you get from Spain; does not have the austere/lean/eviscerated character of many Spanish Albarinos; really lovely wine. $19.00

Thanks for the note. Makes me even more excited to pick up my wines in a couple of weeks.

I should start drinking my 2010 vintage of these soon.

I opened one of these almost as soon as the box arrived. It’s a very nice wine with some interesting note of fennel, or something like that, in the nose. Very refreshing. My wife and I agreed that we should have the next bottle on a hot day.

Drank one of my 2011’s last night with some grilled turkey. Pretty good and very easy to drink considering how humid it was. Love the fact it was only 13.0% alc.

Caught my wife drinking one of these the other day and had to check my stock. Yep… didn’t buy enough.

Wish that my wife liked these, but she doesn’t. However, she does like the Spanish Albariños that I buy. That said, we only tried the 2009 version and given Tom’s note this one sounds like it could have been a winner.

Huh i always get a strong pineapple note on these I like
