TN: A Valtellina to Remember... 2004 Fay "Ca Morei's" Valtellina Superiore

Presently enjoying some great Italian wines. This is a wine I was served at Milan’s Osteria dei Binari ( an incredible place btw). Served with saffron rissotto with homemade sausage.

2004 Azienda Agriccola Fay “Ca Morei’s” Valtellina Superiore (Nebbiolo)

A deep ruby red color. A really nice nose of darker focused fruit. A gorgeous laser focused palate of dark fruit and some element of spice. Very lively and long in the mouth. Some tannin adds focus to the finish. Not quite the detail of a Barolo but every bit of the length.

Extremely good. For 30 euro at the restaurant a geniune bargain.

I have the fondest memories of Osteria dei Binari. That’s where I first discovered the joys of Lombardy nebbiolo as well as risotto al salto!
