2009 PERIPLE SEVEN MULES VINEYARD [MARTINELLI] RRV PINOT NOIR- while visiting family in Idaho, I always stop by a fine wine shop in the Boise area, Eagle, to stock up my small cellar there and for the latest and greatest of wine turn ons from the owner. He highly recommended this wine and thankfully I bought a bottle.
Very nice fresh and ripe fruit from the nose all through with strawberry, raspberry, a touch of oak, cola, sassafras and spice and some black cherry at the end which was intimated in the beginning; easy on the palate, it is quite pleasing now and structured for some longevity; it`s complex and has some depth.
The owner/ winemaker, Angie Shaltry Riff, is a former understudy to Helen Turley [Marcassin] and Jeanne Beall [Blankiet, Kapcsandy and Bryant Family]; the label is French for Odyssey or journey; the winery is located in the Boise area; I will look forward to more treats from this producer.
Cheers
