TN: A high quality Villages Burg

  • 2014 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieille Vigne - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Again, this is a high quality Villages from Fourrier. Deep ruby. Bright red cherries and raspberries, with dark spices and chalky minerals in the background. Clean, pure, ripe, largely red, fruit on the palate. Below medium weight with refined tannins for this level. Elegant. Well balanced and proportioned between oak, acids, fruit and minerality. Crunchy, succulent fruit. Delicious now but fairly primary, it’d benefit from another 3-4 years in the cellar. (92 pts.)

Just had the 2013 off a restaurant list 2 days ago it was similarly delicious.

Fred, yes, I’ve also recently had a 2013 (but didn’t do a formal note). I also really enjoyed it. From memory the 2013 showed more prominent acidity than the '14, not that that’s a bad thing …

The 2011 is in a nice place right now as well, especially with a bit of air.

… and priced accordingly, too. [cry.gif]

REALLY nice!!!
