TN: A good 2010 Chablis ...

  • 2010 Domaine Servin Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (10/25/2014)
Popped and poured. The fairly deep gold colour, raised a premox concern, but the issue is not present on bouquet. A ‘correct’ nose of lemon rind, chalk, crushed river boulder, seaspray and greengage, with a touch of tropical pineapple juice and a dash of baking spices. Absolutely correct and classical on palate. Actually quite austere, dry, energetic and tightly wound. A top quality 1er Chablis, with a grapefruit and lemons, flinty, mineral and saline flavour profile. Pleasing, bracing, bright acidity, with excellent structure, dry extract, precision and focus. A long, parched earth dry finish. What you hope for from the vintage. Quite primary and young, on the evidence of this bottle anyway, this wine could use 5+ years cellar time. But I like this style, so find it quite enjoyable now. It would pair beautifully with shellfish. (92 pts.)
