2000 Rolly Gassmann Gewurztraminer Kappelweg de Rohrschwihr Vendanges Tardives - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (5/29/2014)
Colour evolved looking bright gold. Spicy nose of honeysuckle, pineapple, lemon, glycerol, passionfruit, showing fragrant sweetness. Sweet entry to palate, rich, unctuous and oily. Complex, layered flavours of liquid honey, cinnamon, butterscotch, lemon, pineapple, a hint of toffee and of Turkish delight and some minerals, showing some evolution. Palate staining depth, real concentration and power. Precise and focused with racy acids. Low alcohol (13%), seamlessly integrated. Sweet but not cloying, incredibly long, finishing on honey flavours. Drinking well now, but with another 10+ years in it, easily, I think. (93 pts.)
