Just a few observations of wine drunk recently. Was shocked how much I did not like the Nicholas Cole Camille after all of the praise on this board and CT. Doesn’t fit the Garagiste mold in my opinion. Don’t have a lot of experience with Washington State wines in general so not sure where this fits into the scheme/style of things up there.

2007 Gerhard Hattenheimer Hassel Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Rheingau (1/5/2011)
Opened a bottle and had a glass at xmas dinner. Recorked and put in fridge for 3 - 4 days. Wow what a little time did for this wine, just incredible juice. Lost a lot of the big fruit and picked up tons of complexity. Great wine and should last for a long time in cellar. -
2008 Louis Latour St. Véran Les Deux Moulins - France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, St. Véran (1/5/2011)
Maybe a bit early on this one but prospects are looking good. Very fresh and clean on nose and velvety on palate with stone fruit, chalk and no oak in sight. Nice. -
2004 Nicholas Cole Camille - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (1/5/2011)
I have to agree with Purple Drank below except I wouldn’t be as generous with the points. Way too sweet, oaky for me. Left on counter for 2 - 3 days and didn’t change a bit. Kind of a vanilla/chocolate milkshake topped with sweet coconut taste which i love but not in my red wines. Really low on the acidity in my view. Am I tasting the same wine as everyone else? Maybe bottle variation. Not too excited about 5 bottles I have left, maybe give it 10 years in cellar. -
2007 Mas Des Agrunelles Coteaux du Languedoc L’Indigéne - France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc (1/4/2011)
Took CT posters advice and decanted for 45+ minutes, then dug in. Yes siree I likey a lot. Has the dark fruit, mocha, espresso, cassis and leather up front and a good acidic spine to finish it off. A little rustic but for $13 I am not complaining. Paired very well with spicy/acidic food.
Second night actually improved a little. Nice. -
2009 Domaine Bruno Cormerais Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Chambaudiere - France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine (1/4/2011)
Popped and poured on a Tuesday night while prepping for dinner. All I can say is there are no flaws in this wine, just bright, aromatic goodness packed in a bottle. Light enough to pair with cereal at breakfast, but powerful enough to serve with swordfish with spicy peppers/citrus/basil emulsion. Had 3 - 4 glasses and did not get a buzz so the alcohol must be really low (listed at 12%). Has the oyster shell, sea spray and saline that I love in a white wine. I wish I could buy this by the 55 gallon drum and put a tap into it. -
2007 Ceritas Chardonnay Porter-Bass Vineyards - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (1/1/2011)
Wowzie, this is a serious chard and does not matter where it is from, it is just plain delicious! Has the saline, sea shell thing and the creamy chard fruit and not a hint of oak at this tasting. Very, very nice. -

Fruit, earth and velvety. Not a blockbuster but a very good wine. Very nice on NE’s EVE. -
2002 Foxen Pinot Noir Sea Smoke Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (1/1/2011)
My first Foxen Sea Smoke and I really liked it a lot. Lots of fruit but on the soft side and some nice earthy characteristics as well. Drank alongside an 03 Pommard and no doubting it was a Cali pinot but held its own admirably. -
1995 Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Selection Library Release - USA, California, Napa Valley (12/26/2010)
No leaking cork. Drinking very well, very much as a mature Bordeaux. Little musty, barny initially, then rounded into a nice wine. -
2006 Podere Ruggeri Corsini Langhe Nebbiolo - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC (12/17/2010)
Needs air then blossoms into a beaut of a nebbielo. Lots of reserved power underneath its cloak. This wine will evolve alot during its time and I am looking forward to it. -
2008 Copain Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (12/15/2010)
Nothing special at this juncture, but nothing wrong with it as well. Lets see what time does.
