If I didn’t know what I was drinking, I would have sworn I was drinking Graves. Lots of tobacco, leather and cedar and earth. Good fruit and a nice finish, this went well with my Costco rack of lamb. Lovely wine.

The '97 sounds great. The '03 opened up very nicely on day two, I finished it off last night and it definately came around.
The 97 Reserve,imho, put Whitehall Lane on the map. It is the best wine they have ever produced. I have had this wine numerous times over the past 5 years and this wine will continue to improve for another 10 years.
If only they could reproduce this wine on a regular basis!
Personally I think the 95 is better.
The 95 Reserve was indeed a great wine. The production of that wine was rather limited as I remember and it just didn’t get a lot of distribution.
That was one of the great things about the 97 vintage, it turned out incrdible wines at bumper crop volumes. In fact, those volumes lasted through the 98 vintage selling season a helped us to not have to buy 98s!
Just a lot more people got to have the 97s and learn about WHL, but I have no problem with your statement the 95 was fine indeed.
It’s funny, for most cab producers I thought their 94s were the wine of the decade. IMO, best wine since at least 90. WHL’s 95 and 97 were better than their 94s ,imo.
I remember absolutely loving that wine when it was young (in 2000, 2001). Good to hear it’s holding up.
