1996 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (2/22/2009)
Popped, decanted 30 minutes, consumed over the next hour. Nose of earth, dark fruit, tobacco and leather. Well balanced, integrated palate, not herbaceous at all, a smooth expression of mountain fruit. Tannins evident but not overpowering. A very nice wine that can be enjoyed now as well as be cellared for another 10 years. -
2004 Seavey Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/22/2009)
Popped, poured two glasses, then back into the bottle and recorked.
Day 1: Huge nose. Black color, deep rich fruit, tight and tannic.
Day 2: Nose is classic California cab, fruit, earth and tobacco. Rich, elegant mouthfeel, wonderful balance and structure to this wine. Still massive, thoroughly enjoyable, long finish. This will be a stunner in 3-5 years.

2005 Buccella Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/22/2009)
Popped and poured into decanter, sat for one hour. Initial glass (pre decant) was pure joy, full of fruit, great mouthfeel, luscious, rich, juicy midpalate, finish a little short. Poured a glass after the hour of decanting, and the wine did a 180. Aromatics gone, acidic, fruit lacking, alcoholic finish. Seems to be in a closed phase at this time.
