TN: 96' Dalla Valle Cabernet

96’ Dalla Valle Cabernet- Gorgeous Cabernet color, nose shows a really refined cassis, hint of baking spice, with ???. Palate shows crayola, dark cherry, vanilla, spice, (polo cologne) great length and grip, but freshness on the palate. The nose mirrors the palate, what more could you want in a really well made classic style cab.

Crayola??

Polo cologne?

Yuk!!!

But other than that, great cab!!!

Jason,

Killer wine, a few years ago had this side by side with 1996 Maya at lunch at Jak’s, different grapes but this was every bit as good as the Maya.

I always get a whiff of Crayola (Wax) with California cab, I’m surprised more people don’t make the connection when they smell the wine.

I know, POLO! but there was a really pretty/musty exotic perfume that came out and it reminded me of being a kid and getting a whiff of my dads cologne, not over blown just that subtle scent that makes the middle of the wine that more expressive.

I had this wine in Vegas once. Don’t recall whether I liked it or not. [whistle.gif] [berserker.gif]

Apparently it’s true then. What happens in Vegas…
