Going in, I was expecting this to be completely dead and gone. Much to my delight, the cork was in phenomenal shape and the wine is a real pleasure to drink. The color is remarkably vibrant for such an old wine, with virtually no bricking. The nose gives off roses, sandalwood, and a kiss of sweet red fruits. The palate is just so classic and satisfying. I get plums, dark chocolate shavings, strawberry/pomegranate/raspberry, and a touch of wood spice. This is completely resolved and while on its plateau, still drinking remarkably well.
