Approximately 85% Garganega and 15% Trebbiano di Soave. The vines range in age from 10-60 years. A wine I by often as I’ve had the 2000, 2001, 2008, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021. Medium yellow color. This dry white wine seemed to have a little more acid and zip than previous vintages. Green apple and lemon notes. Really nice for Pieropan’s introductory Soave. 90 points. [
We are big fans of the whole range, they are such great food pairing tools. Just recently realized we are completely out, though, so it’s time to reload.
One of the great wonders of the wine world is how good this wine always is at like $17/bottle. A favorite all summer. I do think La Rocca, specifically, is worth the step up in $$
Nice note! Pieropan an old favorite, though it has been forever since I have had the wines. I’ll have to find a few bottles as I am definitely overdue.
Yup, I discovered these when visiting Venice around '04 and I have been buying them ever since. One of the best QPR’s out there and just in their own right always lovely juice. I like the entry level for earlier drinking. The Calvarino tends to need a little time in the bottle.
