2022 Sclavos-Zisimatos Vino di Sasso Robola of Cephalonia - Greece, Ionian, Kefalonia, Robola of Cephalonia (1/20/2025)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 2 hrs. on Day 1; checked-in periodically through Day 10 –

NOSE: buttery pastry – croissant; more about the breadiness and mineral than fruit; buttered popcorn Jelly Belly jellybean.

BODY: green-tinged gold color; light to medium-light bodied.

TASTE: medium+ acidity, with a strong buzzy mineral presence; hard to pinpoint the fruit — papaya? 13% alc. not overtly noticeable – maybe just a little. I would love to try this with octopus, but overall it’s just fine. I gave this wine every chance I could to be something I actually affirmatively like: I re-tasted on Day 10, and had a small taste on a couple days in between — nothing really changed. I’d rebuy for specific food pairings if it were around $15, but that’s about it. Just barely not completely boring. Gut impression score: low to mid 80s.
