  • 2021 Tercero Mourvèdre Rosé - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (8/28/2024)
    Pale peach color, stone fruit nose of apricot and maybe nectarine, wet stones. Creamy watermelon jolly rancher and orange zest. Fresh and lively, bursting with acidity, finish is bittersweet and long. Huge yum factor here.

Thank you my friend. So happy to hear how this Rose is developing - still have some 2021 left and am just starting to see some wonderful development in the 2022 - which might age even better than this 2021!

Thanks Larry-I have a few of both of your 2019 rosés left. how are they holding up?

In all honesty, I’ve yet to have any of my Mourvèdre Roses from 2014 forward be ‘over the hill’. They certainly lose some fruit ‘vibrancy’ as you’d expect, but they take in more texture.

My only advice is to not serve it too chilled - you’ll minimize the texture and aromatics.

Just had one of these Friday night. For me, the Cinsault >>> Mourvèdre. Brian’s notes are good. A little fat for me (who doesn’t typically enjoy still rosé).

I blew through 6 bottles this summer. My favorite Rose this year!!!

Thanks for the note. The Cinsault Rose tends to have more acidity than the Mourvèdre Rose, which tends to have more texture. I tend to latter closer to cellar temperature whereas I tend to prefer the former more chilled.

I still have a small supply of the 2021 Cinsault Rose if interested - and have a bit more of the 2021 Mourvèdre Rose, which, to me, has not yet peaked.

I remember seeing that too - what a great picture! And so glad I still have nothing that 2021 Mourvèdre Rose - seriously continuing to evolve. Excited to see where it goes!
