You can open 2014 St Joe any time, it is really delicious now. Save the mag, but try a 750 soon. Give it some air.
I’m a fan of 2014 in general, and I have been very happy to buy a bunch of wines from this vintage at auction for low prices over the past few years. The 2014 Gonon is so delicious that I already drank all of mine.
Day 3 of this wine, simply corked and put in refrigerator (not moved to 375ml bottle) and it’s really singing - a delicate and silky presentation on this final glass, the texture of rose petals. No noticeable degradation of the wine whatsoever, so this baby will last for years, I would assume.
Had one in late April.
Was excellent. Fav young Iles I’ve had.
“Tons of bacon fat with infused herbal seduction, black olive tapenade, and some fruit. Fantastic bouquet. The mouth is pretty and mineral and lighter. On day two nose and mouth integrated more. I did not decant so if you dive in this year, would recommend.”
I had one last week. Enjoyed it a lot. 19 has been my favorite Feray of last few vintages.
Opened a bottle of this tonight with a Iberico flank steak, this is a lighter vintage of this wine but damn it’s one of my favorites! With air it really gains some weight. Beautiful aromatics with pepper and red fruit and olive on the palate if you love olive and olive tapenade you will love this wine. Red raspberry a bit of smoked meat and mineral and balanced acidity. Damn I did not buy enough of this.
Gonon crushed their '21 Iles Feray.
I thought it was just pressed.
I guess I’m putting away the ‘17 Faury and opening this instead…
lol wine dork humor
If you must.
top it off already.
Wow - I went lighter on the ‘21s and am now deeply regretting that decision.
This may be a case of the ‘21 Iles Feray being better than the ‘21 St. Joseph.
I’m not sure, I havent had the ‘21 St. Joseph, but I’ve heard reports that it may be a tough vintage for that wine.
That was what they said about 14, which was good early on, and has become a beautiful wine, if a bit of an outlier.

I have (once) and it was superb.
I had it at a restaurant in Gigondas this past December. It was very tight. It will probably open up, but it seemed too young now. I don’t have much experience with Gonon since the price skyrocketed, but my 06s and 09s really did follow the rule of 15.
My bottle in '24 was fire. My bottle two months ago was best on day 2.
Glad to hear. I have a couple of bottles of '21 St. Joseph (no Iles Feray unfortunately). I heard somewhere the weather was pretty tough in St. Joseph in 2021, and if that was the case, I’m glad to hear it didn’t really affect Gonon.
Anyone had the 2022 St Joseph? I’ve got a 3 pack.
