- 2020 Pierre Vessigaud Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé (6/2/2026)
Ordered a couple of these after really enjoying the 2023 VV and requesting some 2024 1ers from Ansonia. This bottle came off the FedEx truck last week so could still have some bottle shock.
Poured into a Grassl Cru and followed over a couple nights. Golden hue with a thin clear rim. The nose is developing, mostly chalk/flint and yellow flowers with a touch of butterscotch with aeration. There is a nice purity and balance of yellow apple and lemon citrus on the palate, perfect concentration. Rich but not heavy. The fruit glides effortlessly, yet also has staying power on the tongue due to its dry extract with nicely integrated zesty acidity, giving way to a long flinty finish that carries a talc-like grip. Not too complex, just tasty stuff that would pair nicely with a fish or seafood dish with a cream sauce or some cheeses after dinner.
