TN: 2020 Nervi-Conterno Gattinara (Italy, Piedmont, Northern Piedmont, Gattinara)

Well they sure as damn weren’t worth it when the ownership and name changed and the wines suddenly cost triple the previous price even if the wines had been made a few years earlier and had just that NERVI-CONTERNO label slapped on them recently.

But with rather extensive experience on the Nervi wines over seven different decades, I have pretty good picture how the wines have been. If several people whose palates I can trust have said the wines have changed relatively little and if anything, towards a style they (nor me) do not prefer, I believe I can say the price increases aren’t worth it.

But what do I know. Maybe the wines - which used to be some of my favorites in all Piedmont and Italy, especially in their price points - are now magically three times better! At least they are that much more expensive.

Has anyone tried the 2021 yet?

No, but Thatchers has great pricing with their current promo, practically $55/btl
