TN: 2020 Guy Breton Côte de Brouilly

2020 Guy Breton Côte de Brouilly

Picked this up on sale for $19. This Cru Beaujolais is sourced from a site on Mt. Brouilly owned by Jean-Claude Lapalu. There was record heat in 2020. I’ve had about a dozen wines from this Gang of Four producer but never this wine. A heavier Beaujolais. Floral aromas. Medium red color. Notes of strawberries and dark red fruit. The ripeness of the vintage shown through. 90-91 points.

I haven’t had the Cote de Brouilly, but Breton’s Morgon always seems to be underrated compared to the other KL Beaujolais. The '09 and '10 are delicious right now.

That’s a great price for that wine
