TN: 2019 Sadie Family Skerpioen

2019 Sadie Family Skerpioen

Opened at the beach. Eben Sadie started this winery in 1999 and has earned an excellent reputation. The Skerpioen vineyard is a wind-swept, seashore site with sand and limestone soils. It is co-planted with Chenin Blanc and Palomino grapes. The vines were planted between 1958-1967. 2nd time I have had this and my last bottle. Balanced acidity with a creaminess on the finish. Crisp white fruit with tropical notes and lemons. Excellent balance. We drank this just before a Palisades Chenin Blanc and I liked the Sadie better. 94 points.

Haven’t had the 2019, but a 2017 last year was excellent. Brought to a vineyard harvest lunch and didn’t take notes, but your “Crisp white fruit with tropical notes and lemons” fits the 2017 as well. Cheers! :wine_glass:
