TN: 2019 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon

  • 2019 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru (12/10/2022)
Exquisite white peach fruit with some honeysuckle and spice. Great shape. Fleshy, but drawn in by the perfect amount of mineral tension. Intense, balanced and beautifully proportioned. Just a hint of citrus to the long finish. Drinking well as a youngster but should age.

We hear about the recent resurrection of these wines. Are they right at the top of the Burgundy tree again?

No doubt! Stunning wines.

With the prices to match, sadly.

Yep, when I receive the annual allocation, my wife goes a bit silent for a day or two

I opened the first of my '19 Clavoillons a few months ago and thought the same. Very well balanced and just a tad on the fleshy side. It’ll be in a really nice place in 5-7 years I think.

Curiosity killed the cat!
Opened a 2019 Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc last night. Alright it’s priced like a good village wine, but it drinks like a decent premier cru. Sublime balance, mid palate richness and finely etched finish.
