2018 Quinta de Saes Dão - Portugal, Beiras, Dão (12/29/2022)
– Bottle opened approx. 1 hr. before tasting –
– tasted a single pour non-blind over approx. 30 min. –
Fruity – red-fruited; easy/approachable; not savory or funky; quite simple; a nice bistro/pizza wine, but that’s about it. Not a re-buy at $22. Gut impression score: 85 - 87
I very much like and recomend the Reserva (Estágio Prolongado), which over here is cheaper than the price you indicate for the entry level. The Touriga Nacional is a textbook example of varietal identity.

Thanks, Tomas! I was hoping you’d chime-in with your thoughts and perspective. I’ll give the Reserva a shot if/when I ever come across it.

Let me know! The base Saes is an 8€ wine in Portugal, and even at that price point I have other preferences. I’d be pretty disappointed too if I had paid $22 for it.
