2017 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese feinherb Ur Alte Reben - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (4/6/2023)
If I knew then what I know now I would not have opened a single bottle of this until now. It’s magical. The aromatics are elegant yet insistent. The palate deep and simultaneously ethereal. This is what magic is with Riesling, where the fruity and floral elements combine with the infinite mineral depths that come from old vines on perilously steep slopes. There’s a soupçon of sweetness, but it just broadens the palate presence, making the wine likely even more ageable, like some of the great Trimbach VT wines from the late ‘80s. The Ur Alte Reben has been a transcendent wine since the first release in 2012, and this is the best rendition I have tasted to date.

So, you are saying sitting on my lot of bottles to now has been wise? ![]()
Love the note, it hits all the things I love about Riesling. S-O, as a producer, easily one of the best values running and one that runs for so long once it hits its stride. Given your post, maybe I need to check in on it, for science. TY
They were also stupendous young.
