After an incredibly mousy 2010 Henri Milan Le Vallon and a past its peak 2015 Inama Vigneti di Foscarino Soave Classico I tried my luck with this wine that I’ve enjoyed a lot in the past. Compared to the two earlier disappointments it surely is a great success but compared to the past vintages besides 2015 of the same wine I am not jumping from joy. The label states 13.5% ABV and unfortunately I don’t think it is any lower than that in reality. It’s a good wine and all but I’m just not getting what I bought the wine for. After a glass and a half I don’t feel like drinking more and that is a bad sign with a wine that is supposed to be a so called vin de soif.
2017 Marcel Lapierre Morgon N- France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon (7.4.2020)
Popped and poured, enjoyed slightly chilled. Somewhat volatile on the nose but still pleasant with dusty cherry fruit, lingonberry and stony tones. On the palate it is quite rich and weighty (in the context of this particular cuvée) yet pleasantly dry and relatively fresh with nice acidity. I don’t get any heat or overripeness, even if it is clearly not one of those super gluggable wines of past vintages excluding 2015. Overall this is a perfectly enjoyable wine that I don’t mind drinking but I can’t call it exciting in anyway. The appeal of this wine and its kind is normally the unparalled drinkability and the sheer enjoyment that results but you just don’t get it from this vintage.

What is the “N”? Is that a specific cuvee? I’m only familiar with the “Morgan” (sometimes called the “classic cuvee”, I think), and the “Cuvee Marcel Lapierre MMXVII”".
I have a fair amount of Lapierre Morgan, and a little of the Julienas. Some of the Morgon was imported by Kermit Lynch and was sold to me as Morgon N. Looking at the various bottles though I see no designation of the wine being labeled as the “N” version.
So, are all Kermit Kynch Imported Morgan’s the no-sulphur variant, or is there some other marking I just haven’t found?
