How was this only $24?? Beautiful, pure red fruit, with a lovely powdery quality. An herbal, floral bouquet is present on the nose. Supple tannins.
This is excellent for the level and price. I don’t have any Jouan in the cellar but clearly that needs to change.
thanks for the note! I don’t have any experience with Jouan but have gotten some offers lately. might have to bite on a couple
Bought some of this last summer, and finally got around to opening one. What a lovely, and refreshing bottle of wine! $25 and very much a value at that price.
Me too, from Crush. It’s delicious, an excellent mid-week quaffer with salmon or grilled chicken. Slots right in there for the reasons I love Beaujolais.
The Beaujolais comparison is good, though this wine is more elegant/nuanced.
It also has some back end tannins, so a few years might be good for it.

2017 Henri Jouan Coteaux Bourguignons Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Coteaux Bourguignons (3/2/2021)
Fresh, fruity, and easy drinking up front, but the finish also has some chalky, phenolic presence. Finishing up the bottle 48 hours after I initially opened it (kept in the fridge), and it still has fresh raspberry fruit and a solid acid core. Lovely value at about $25. Should be a fun drink over the next few years.
