My first Prudhon. Greeted by oak, yellow apple, white flowers, lime, and a bit of flint, I was pleasantly surprised at the lithe palate. Zippy acidity and a nice wash of citrus kept the wine energetic despite the rich nose: fresh and relatively light on its feet with a crisp but lingering finish. Good value, especially for acid heads like myself who prefer a more lifted style of white Burgundy. I’d actually be interested to see if this develops further, so I’ll keep my second bottle a little longer and check in with it again in a little while.
I don’t think Saint-Aubin is exactly under the radar anymore but it’s good to know there are still “workmanlike” producers who are relatively affordable who make good wines at reasonable prices.
