TN: 2016 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph

Very punchy nose of rose petals, stems , liniment and spiced plum. It has flesh in the mouth with ripe berry and plum fruits that have a saline edge. It is deep, crunchy, direct and long. It is expressive from the get go but has plenty upon which to age.

whatcha think, 15 or 16?

The '15 is better. This is very good though.

“punchy”=alcoholic?

Probably meaning more like in your face aromatics.

Punchy as David describes.

Sound awesome! For the first time since I’ve been buying Gonon, my allocation got cut to half case. Ugh. Looking forward to cracking one.

Thanks for flaunting that you have an allocation. Humble brag.

If he was really bragging, he’d tell you what he paid.

No doubt getting harder and harder to get a full allocation. I do like Chave St Jo too but it’s still not a Gonon. Any other good St Jo out there?

I liked the jean something Marsanne st joe. The price is rediculous for the wine.

Raymond Trollat is pretty tough to find, but his name immediately comes to mind when talking about great St Joseph.

Yea but near impossible to find, especially after Fu-fest. I think 2005 was last vintage. You are now looking at $400+.

Backing it down to some every day drinkers, the Barou and Rousset St Joes are lovely and under $20. Worth buying by the case.

Rousset st jo less than $20? WhatchutalkinboutWillis?
Crozes Rouge maybe…

Sorry, you are correct, checked. I paid $23.99 but then got 10% case discount. Still stoopid cheap!

Absolutely lovely vintage of this wine. Drinking much better in its youth than the 2015 did, as well.

Jean-Claude Marsanne.

People shouldn’t name themselves after a grape. [head-bang.gif]

Thanks Patrick. i Have only had a few vintages, but I enjoy them very much. The other is Gripa.

Anyone had the didier morion envoyer was offering?
