TN: 2016 Hubert Lamy Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Cuvée Haute Densité

  • 2016 Hubert Lamy Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Cuvée Haute Densité - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet (5/24/2020)
Has an intense scent of lemon and white peach. There are some citrus blossom notes too. It is direct, compact and piercing. There’s a sappy feel against the gums and it has plenty going on but is so contained. The finish is chalky, bone-dry and extremely long.

jh—you’ve now had a few “haute densité.” Would you say it’s a big step up from the usual? I haven’t opened one yet.

A big step up in intensity, with more pronounced acidity.

Just had the 13, so good. I love how clean and acid driven the wines are. Like you said, big big step up from the non HD versions.

I’ve had the odd pre-HD Lamy and found them a bit “workmanlike”. The new HD Lamy wines don’t make it to my shores and with very small production I doubt that will change. I did pass up a chance to jump on one of these village wines from an Oz retailer at a very Coche-like price!

What about density?

Density is much more Haute.

Lamy get some experience with that bottle . . .

I had the '16 Derriere Chez Edouard HD within the last few weeks. It was pretty similar to your note for the Tremblots.

It was also DIAM 10, don’t know when they started that but I don’t recall seeing those before on Lamy wines.
