TN: 2016 Colombera & Garella Lessona Pizzaguerra

I liked 2014 over 2015 with two Colombera & Garella wines because for some reason their 2015’s felt clumsy and somewhat dull or even slightly unpleasant to me. Nothing I’d extrapolate to concern the whole region for the vintage.

Have you had the 2015s lately? The most recent CT note from you is in 2020 (you may have had it more recently, I’m very derelict in my CT notes). I’ve found the 2015s, especially the Bramaterra, to be moving targets** but with higher highs. My 2014s are long gone. They were definitely more charming young.

** I’ve also had more than expected cork issues in this vintage.

I think Cristiano likes the 2017 because it is very much in the infusion vein. Very ethereal and lightly colored. IIRC the ABV is like 12%, but I’d have to check a bottle to know. When I was there in 2019, I found both 2016 and 2018 to be really great from bottle and cask. 2017 was more variable with some excellent wines and some wines that are more coarse. That has carried over to stateside bottles. I’ve found that, while good, Carlone Boca and Antoniotti Bramaterra to be more coarse than usual. I still bought them, but a bit rustic relative to the surrounding vintages. That reminds me, I need to get some 2018 Antoniotti.

You still see those? I got them last year and got the 2019s last month.

2018s still lingering the importer may be holding 2019s until the 2018s sell through. 2018s have been around for a while, though. Are your bottles LDM?

yes

I just received my 2019 Lessona - slightly different label this year and…wax! :poop:
