TN: 2016 Chateau d'Issan, Margaux

@Marc_Frontario and I had the 2000 Brane Cantenac a few months ago, we thought it was excellent. And oddly enough, we were even at a sushi restaurant. Apparently we had no CDP.

Unfortunately Giscours has gotten pretty aggressive on pricing in line with the recent big scores. Believe they’re asking $81 for the 2022 at my local warehouse store that generally has decent (though not national-best) BDX pricing. (So only barely shy of Brane-Cantenac.)

2000 Brane Cantenac is a WOTY candidate…Yes on sushi night!! Where we also popped the '85 Beychevelle…another banger WOTY candidate…keep in mind we did order a Tomahawk and Wagyu nigiri.

For the fish we rocked out some 2008 Piper Heidsieck rare…just Killer bubbles:clinking_glasses::champagne:

I saved about a third of the bottle for tonight under a Repour closure, bottle kept in the fridge. The wine has picked up a bit more weight and earth tones with a very notable vein of tobacco. This wine is outstanding.

New research links golf with living longer. These golfers still swinging in their 70s agree. - MarketWatch

Just move to The Villages, people are still swinging into their 90s!

TMI. Nobody wants to know about your future sex life, Robert.

Don’t be jealous, Mark!

I have a couple 2000 d’issan left, they’d probably be pretty good. Also a bunch of 2000 cantenac brown.

2000 was wide-open, mature and delicious at a road-show tasting with Emanuel Cruse last year. That and the 2005 were both pretty excellent.

The real sleeper is 2006. A standout from an average year.

I had the 01 razuan segla blind a few years ago and it was quite good.

If we are talking Rauzan, please note Howard, the 2019 is even better than ‘2016, with both being special. I am delighted to hear you (and Robert who looks like he will have a lot of fun) plan to live long and prosper, so rather than wait for you to hit the great wine bar in the sky, you should have an early distribution. I am not averse to Truchot rather than cash.

“TMI. Nobody wants to know about your future sex life, Robert.”

Don’t know if it’s still the case, but in the past, the highest incidence of STD’s in Florida was at The Villages

This was my first wow wine about 3 or 4 years ago!
