TN: 2016 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva

I had the 2019 Castello di Monsanto ‘Riserva’ [Chianti Classico] last night and enjoyed it, but for my tastes it needs another 5-10 years to round out. Dark ruby, light tannin, and acidity that’s up the middle. The nose is sage, bay and then a touch of matchsticks. I thought it had a reductive character but it grew on me as the night went on. Full bodied and youthfully dark. I enjoyed it but I won’t put any down as I have a few 2010 and 2016 still. B+ on my scorecard.
