TN: 2016 Barthod Bourgogne Rouge

16s came in so thought I try this one out before it shuts down. Surprisingly deeper than the 15, acidity seems more subdued. Intensely primary. Tastes like those incredibly dark, juicy cherries you get at the peak of the season. Beautiful, lifted floral aromatics, so so expressive now. Will be holding on to the rest of my bottles for a few years at least.

Thanks for the report. I only have a few bottles, so I haven’t considered touching mine for a few more years.

Definitely best to wait on these, the wine is all concentrated fruit right now. It’s good but will really shine when it’s had an opportunity to develop.

The 2005 of this remains young - but still absolutely delicious. The 2002 is also no slouch!

I can imagine! Have started buying this only recently but look forward to seeing how they evolve; the wine has quite a bit of stuffing, especially for the level.
