2015 Martin Müllen Trarbacher Hühnerberg Riesling Spätlese trocken - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (6/16/2020)
Poured in Grassl Mineralite glass and followed over the course of the evening.
My first check in on any 2015 German riesling in quite awhile. Golden in color, the wine has aromas of fresh yellow peach, honeyed lemon tea, and crushed slate pouring out of the glass. There is vibrant acidity and good extract on the palate, with citrus, yellow peach, and underripe tropical notes on the attack evolving into a slightly saline finish dominated by herbal notes and spices.
Despite the vintage and spatlese trocken designation, the fruit doesn’t strike me as overly ripe. Regardless, this is delicious juice. Looking forward to checking in on the 2015 Trarbacher Huhnerberg spatlese trocken* and spatlese trocken* ‘3te Terrasse’ at some point in the near future. (91 pts.)
