2015 Kutch Pinot Noir Rosé- USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (5/31/2016)
Nose of bright red raspberries orange peel & honeysuckle. It’s a pretty shad of lite-salmon. Palate shows a pretty large framed mouth feel, more than the color should allow. Nice red fruits with a deftly tart raspberry in control with a swath of mandarin orange. Nicely balanced and pure, this is just a really fun wine that pleases all the senses from the neck up. Next year I double down. (89 pts.)
This is a very unique Rose, mouth blistering acidity and like no other new world pink I’ve ever had before. Drank along with a Tempier and despite obvious differences in grape composition, terroir, etc it absolutely held its own, wish I had some way to get more.
This is by far my favorite Rose of the summer, and up there with my favorite ever. I love, love the acidity on this wine. Happy to have a bunch left. Also have 2 left from last year, so looking forward to doing a side-by-side of the two. Can’t wait to see what Jamie does with Chardonnay.
