2014 Robert Mondavi Winery Chardonnay Reserve - USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros (2/18/2026)
What a wonderful surprise! This wine is singing! First thing you notice is the brilliant gold/green evoo color...SO engaging, anticipating a substantial wine. Rich wine here...ripe and tropical fruits, with plenty oak barrel vanilla spice...honeycomb, toasted marshmallow...yet nice freshness with the pineapple and lemon squeeze citrus...LOVE the tropical coconut wax in this...great balance...white flowers and dry extract for bonus points...more wood showing on the long finish. Reminds me of Kongsgaard...holding up super well...nice going Mondavi! (94 points)

Nice Buzz! Oddly…i don’t think I’ve ever had a Mondavi Reserve Chard?? But this one sounds great!
Thanks for posting

I think the last time I had this was at the Phoencian for some type of Mondavi tasting event with Byron, Seña, and Luce wines circa 2002. I recall I was just getting over a cold and had a big cryptography exam the next day.

I freaking love the Phoenician! Still one of my favorite resorts in town
Now that I recall more it was called something like Mondavi Passport. It was set up in one of the many event spaces so not all that glamorous. Being at the Phoenician is always fun. It was for people in the trade so groups started at staggered times. We had a rep from Mondavi host and guide us through all the Mondavi partnered projects at the time. A cool concept looking back to my nascent wine drinking days. Once the “tour” was over though the tasting was done. I clearly remember drinking the wine as I asked the host the difference between the Reserve and standard Napa bottling. Sorry, no tasting notes. The random things we remember….
