TN: 2014 Jean-Claude Bessin Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume

  • 2014 Jean-Claude Bessin Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (7/8/2018)
Exciting new producer discovery or yet another example of how stellar 2014 Chablis can be? On the first part, that will take some more doing but notes seem uniformly good on CT - Is 14 Chablis any good? Please… Terrific wine, perfect balance of yellow hued fruit, touches of iris / floral qualities mid palate, a rising finish that carries both salinity and richness seals the deal for me. Easy purchase if you see this around. (93 pts.)

Totally agree, Dale! My note is a couple above yours in CT and I had equal enthusiasm. This wine kicks ass in '14. All of Bessins do. Thanks for the reminder to pop another soon.

I’ve been drinking these for years now. The 2009s were exceptional and came from a challenging vintage. The 2010s were simply brilliant.

Ian & Dennis, great to know as not only am i going back for a couple more Fourchame’s but they had some 14 La Foret at the low to mid $30’s price point. Interesting to see that only Burghound and Gilman are th only professional reviews for this producer, but that works for me!

They make almost no wine, certainly compared to most.
