TN: 2014 Arnot-Roberts Trousseau (USA, California, North Coast)

2014 Arnot-Roberts Trousseau - USA, California, North Coast (5/9/2025)
Cellared since release, second to last bottle...this wine is FASCINATING! Has always been...and at the 11yr mark, still fresh and vibrant as can be...yet there is a little funk show going on, which makes it SO interesting! Translucent strawberry and blood orange fruits...dried raspberry fruit roll up...little cloudy and showing some aged orange hue...but where this wine shines is the dried potpourri florals and the savory earthy geology, which reminds me of Burgundy. More complex than you would think...smoky briar patch, sandalwood spice, rhubarb pie...still has some acid tingle...silky tannins...keeps your attention with every sip. LOVE this wine...so much pleasure for the money, and unexpected joy for a wine that really wasn't supposed to last this long. (94 points)

I had it from magnum four years ago and it was singing then. Had the 2012 from 750 earlier this year and it was on fire as well.

Of course I saw those…these are so tasty on release, but become SO much more with age. As well with the Sandlands…we don’t age these wines long enough!

The 2015 Idlewild Nebbiolo I had last night had me thinking of these exact Trousseau wines.

Wow very cool. I absolutely love this wine, but never had one with more than 5 years on it. Thanks for the notes.

These are some of the best AFWE Old World style wines made in CA … they have a light color and body but sneaky crunchy red fruited kiss and acidity that remind me of alpine Italian reds.

I should drink these more often. Relatively affordable and unique.
