TN: 2014 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Campbell Ranch Vineyard

2014 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Campbell Ranch Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (11/12/2016)
Exuberantly fruity, but also has a firm tannic spine at the back end. Plenty of depth to allow the tannins to mellow. I have been off of the Anthill wines for a while, but this is quite lovely.

Why have you been off Anthill recently if you don’t mind me asking? Preference change?

I bought quite a lot from 2008 through 2011. I found 2011 so bad across the board that it put me off the wines.

I keep buying more each vintage. The Peters and Campbell syrah are outstanding for the price and I like the pinots as well. The pinots age very well and I am drinking the 2008’s now.

Thanks for the note… my 2014 order arrived late last week - I’m letting them rest a bit before trying them out.

What was it about the 2011s that you didn’t like? I skipped that vintage…

I have found most of the 2011s oversweet and hollow. They seem to have tried to do too much with too little.

Never tried any of the '11 vintage from them. I do enjoy pretty much everything they make.

I read somewhere here the PNs don’t age well. Between that and being far too deep on domestic PN, I’ve focused on their Syrah lately.
