TN: 2013 Seiber Cellars Mourvedre (USA, California, North Coast, Solano County)

Another WBer winemaker knocking it out of the ballpark, Chris Seiber working with his fathers estate fruit. Fantastic juice! I took liberties with the label image, that’s Chris’ family dog. Great howler!

WTF? This has only been in the bottle for a few days? Excellent wine! Very dark color; good gaminess and fur. Plum and spice mid palate. Medium plus tannic presence for mourvedre. Winemaker must be a magician.

So much for bottle shock – this was bottled on Sunday and served on Thursday! Thanks for the kind words.

Chris,
Where in Solano is your dad’s vineyard?

Brig - now that your tagline about how much you love and adore Chris S. has disappeared - care to elaborate? You seem to really like this guy!!! BTW that wine sounds great!

Howdy Tom,

Yeah, that’s weird. I didn’t remove the signature. In fact, looks like everyone’s is missing. [edit] now they are back…

The story is I lost a bet to Chris and had to put that in my signature at his request! It’s a quote from one of his favorite movies.

Chris did a really nice job with this mourvedre, I’m a mourvedre guy and have tasted many. It’s right up there in the top 10. When we get together again we’ll have him bring a bottle.

Wow - very cool. Chris, how long have you been making wine and how would someone acquire any?

Congrats Chris

I looked at all of your notes from that event, Brig. You guys had an impressive lineup! Was the Mourvedre served blind?

Hello Brian,

yes, they were very nice wines, I thought so!

mourvedre was not blind.
