2013 Sandler Wine Company Pinot Noir Peterson Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (11/5/2014)
This is a serious wine. It’s color is like nothing else in Pinot I have seen, dark but see through. Nose is fragrant with pure dark strawberries, baking spices and cardamom. Palate shows an intensity and backbone without a heaviness. Some black brambly fruit with a hum of an acidity that sits right above your tongue. I get some notes of cola that add interest. Tannins are complicated and finish long. It’s bold, brash and deep. I have had all four of Ed’s 2013s offered in his recent offering in the last 12 days and this is the one I feel needs a few years in bottle. If you know me, you know that’s a serious statement, serious statements go well with serious wines…(92 pts.)
