2013 Rasi Wine Company Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills - USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills (12/2/2014)
Bright nose of blueberries, blackberries and black raspberries. It’s a pretty intense nose. Palate shows some good verve and structure It’s both bold and delicate all at once. The palate shows the blue & black fruits as mentioned. I also find some sour cherries ans forest floor. The balance seems deft with tannins surely large but refrained and the acidity spot on. This seems to be changing moment to moment. What I really enjoy is the sweet undercurrent of some nice almost neutral oak. Not knowing the oak regime, I will stop at that. Certainly seems a bit exotic though with some interesting toastiness peeking through, but as it sits it become a spiciness. Hmm, that’s interesting too!. I am loving the mouth-coating going on. Finish holds true and long but I do get just a small amount of heat on the back-end. I am enjoying this tonight on a rainy NY evening. I might hold my other for a year or so. Recommended from a fellow board member (see below, Frank Murray III) and I am glad I jumped. Sometimes you just gotta jump feet first.(91 pts.)
