TN: 2013 Liquid Farm - Chardonnay "Golden Slope" (USA, CA, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills)

I tend to agree with the posts above that I was really excited by how taut and chiseled the 2010s and 2011s were, particularly the White Hill, but the scattered 2012s and 2013s I’ve had are showing (relatively) more oak and more weight. They’re not “big California chardonnay” in the overall scheme of things, but they aren’t as much in my wheelhouse as the 2010s and 2011s were when I first encountered them.

I’m not sure how much is the vintage versus whether the house is migrating its style - given how new the winery is, you can’t really say for sure yet. I’m also not sure how much I may just be hitting these 2012s and 2013s too early.

I’m still a fan and still a buyer, but I’m less certain than I was at first how perfect of a stylistic match these are for where I am at the moment. I know I’d prefer a less noticeable touch with the oak, just for my own personal preferences.
