At Lotus of Siam.
Beautiful wine, immediately friendly and open with some white flowers, white peach, and toasty fresh bread. Lovely palate with good acidity and super finish. Fantastic, maybe a small step behind the Cristal, but it’s very close.

Might need to procure a few!
I have a few cases that landed last year but somehow haven’t popped one yet. Will have to remedy that if it’s close to the Cristal…
I bought a couple of 2013 bottles from Costco a few years ago for $175. I haven’t seen DP at my Costco since. They must have been sent by mistake. I’m looking forward to drinking them some day. I have about 10 bottles from various years around 2010. I would buy DP whenever I saw them locally for less than $190. So I ended up with a small DP collection. My best buy was my local Kroger had bought some around Christmas time. By May they were practically giving them away for $150. They only had two left and I bought them both. I bought some other wines and got another 10% off. Those were the days. I also have a bottle from 1988 I’m saving for our 50th anniversary.
100% agree. One of the yummy Doms on release which would have thought based on 2013 to be much more standoffish than it is as the Krug 169ede feels as if it’s from another vintage entirely.
Haven’t pop’d a 2013 Cristal yet… was going to hold off assuming it was more Krug than Dom but will add it to the rotation.
I have no idea what you mean by this. Please rephrase.
‘13 is much more forward than ‘12 in Champagne, as a general statement.
Change made.
Yes very true. However have been drinking a fair amount of 169 Krug (‘13 vintage base) and it is not nearly as open as the Dom.
I’ve liked all 13s more than the respective ‘12 except for Salon.
They are definitely close all around. Cristal is close, I might prefer the 12. Cristal Rosé 13 wins. DP is close, both are a step below the 08 so we’ll see how it shakes out. Salon 12 wins.
Definitely agree on the '13 Cristal rose, it is just amazing. I will check in on '13 DP this weekend.
I did open a bottle last weekend and I liked it as well. It is a bigger wine than '12, lots going on here. This does not have the creaminess of '08, but I find '08 to be atypical DP, not as reductive as usual.
You prefer the 13 Dom over the 12?
Yes
