TN: 2013 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvedre Antle Vineyard

2013 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvedre Antle Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Chalone (7/3/2016)
Smoky berries and dusty herbal elements on the nose promise a lovely drink, but then it clamps down and does not show nearly as much on the palate as it did a year ago. The acids are dominating with the fruit more in the background. Seems to be shut down. Smells great though!

Thank you for sharing, David! I have not had the Antle Vineyard bottling.

Did you PnP? Try it over a couple of days? Slow O²?

PnP, but I have some left.

More open and deeper on the palate tonight. Of course serving it with burgers did not hurt.

Thanks, David. How does this compare with any of their other Mourveds? (IIRC you’ve had Shake Ridge at least)

I’ve had pretty much all of them at this point, and I find this one to be the most typically Mourvedre of the lot. Especially on the second night, after it had opened back up it seemed more like what I would expect if I saw Mourvedre on the label.
