TN: 2013 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Acclivi (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

  • 2013 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Acclivi - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (3/13/2018)
Very clean and mineral driven nose displaying strawberry jelly, a hint of dry cherry, cherry pie, cinnamon, stem, sap and strong steely mineral. Very precise and harmonious palate, slightly lean and precise, medium concentration, subtle sweet strawberry fruit, medium acidity, strong iron like mineral, very noticeable but fine tannins and a medium subtle candied strawberry and cherry driven finish with iron and cinnamon at the end. The second day, showing some black fruit, crushed blackberry, in addition to red fruit. The third day, showing even more black fruit and also sweet spices, gaining weight and more pronounced tannins. It is a medium weight, mostly red fruit driven Barolo with a strong iron/mineral expression. It will need another decade or more to reach the youthful peak. (94 pts.)

I love Burlotto’s wines.

Last friday, in a large Barbaresco panel, we had this wine : Burlotto Barolo 2013 : 17,5/20

A gorgeous fruity, spicy elegant wine (Fabio Alessandria’s 2013 are wonderful).
