TN: 2012 Wind Gap Wines Syrah Majik Vineyard

If you can find a Kobler Family, it has low ABV as well (around 12%). The 2005 is especially amazing, with some Viognier blended in.

Sounds fabulous! I’ll add it to my alerts. :+1:

The Kobler wines are very nice and, I think, underappreciated. They also do a rather tasty Gewürztraminer. Lovely little estate and friendly folks, too.

I had the 05 Pax recently and it was stunning. 12% abv. For the hell of it I looked it up and Parker gave it 88 while Tanzer rated it 93! One of the best California Syrahs I have ever had.

I think one of the fascinating things about a wine like this is that it was so far out of ā€˜the norn’ for Pax at the time that it stuck out like a sore thumb - and many didn’t like it because of the style. Now, of course, that style is definitely more in demand so . . .

Cheers

Have a couple 2005 Pax Alder Springs and The Terraces Alder Springs in cellar. The abv on these appear to be at 13.9 and 14.2? Time to pull one of each and try side by side in next couple weeks.
