2012 Wilde Farm Wines Pinot Noir Donnelly Creek Vineyard- USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (1/31/2014)
Bought on BerserkerDay 1/27/2014:
One of the best young California pinots I’ve tasted in a long time. Full of ripe fruit yet backed by a spine of tense acidity that balanced all the rich cherry, strawberry, and blackberry notes. A touch of oak seemed to smooth over any rough edges, and the tannins were beautifully integrated. The whole tasting group marveled at this this wine got better with time. Exceptional balance and a smooth, elegant finish completed the package. (91 pts.)
I agree completely. I was really impressed with this wine when I first had it back in November. Which reminds me, I reloaded but never picked it up. Loren?
Have another in the cellar in the meantime. Heaven forbid but if this weather keeps up I’ll have to pop it.

Day 2 notes. What an exciting Pinot Noir this is. Bright, lively fruit just glides over the palate offering tea leaf, cranberry, pomegranate and forest floor. Exceptional balance of bright fruit, zippy acidity and grippy tannins floating over 12.7% abv. Seamless expression of Anderson Valley fruit with absolutely no rough edges, adds a touch of cherry on the finish. Great food wine and a value play to boot. Must hit the reload button. Wow!
I have two more bottles but probably have to reload after being so impressed, this is dangerously easy to drink and I suspect has plenty of acidity to age for a while.
This was the Berserker Day offer I almost bought but didn’t due to budget. (Un)Fortunately it will be at Falltacular (to tease me proper), so based on these reports, I’ll make it a priority to taste early.
Just tasted this tonight. It’s really superb; stems dialed back from Wind Gap so that they add aromatic complexity and a silky texture without overwhelming the fruit. Was totally surprised by how much I liked this.
