TN: 2012 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese feinherb Ur Alte Reben

2012 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese feinherb Ur Alte Reben - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (11/25/2013)
I have been buying and drinking the off-dry (halbtrocken, feinherb) wines of Selbach-Oster since 2004, and this is the best one by a wide margin. Pure tree fruit poured over stones with a hint of sweetness to start that turns dry on the finish. The balance is right on, so it should age gracefully for a long time. Outstanding effort from Johannes Selbach!

Thanks for the note. I’ve enjoyed pretty much everything from this producer.

So far the 2012s I have tasted are some of the best ever from Selbach-Oster.

Just picked up more of their Zeltinger Schlossberg Kabinett. 2012 is such a pretty vintage.

Me too!

Yes these seem to get much more exposure (and credit) in the US, good importer?

I like Mr and Mrs Selbach, lovely people, but if am not a massive fan of the wines the way that I am with some other producers. Always well made for sure though.

Russell-Terry Theise is the importer.

I am a huge S-O fan, largely because of the purity/clarity of the wines. They also age very well.

2012 is a vintage to go deep on in my opinion.
