TN: 2012 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain

  • 2012 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru (12/14/2014)
Pure yellow fruit with some mild tropical character. Mixed with lemon zest. The palate is full and coats the mouth. The fruit is ripe but dances. There is good acid to back up all this stuffing. The finish is very long. Pierre Yves does so well in riper years. Tremendous!

Good to hear about the '12’s from Pierre-Yves. I didn’t get any Puligny but just tried the '12 St Aubin en Remilly and thought it was tremendous as he usually does great things with that vineyard.

ha. P-Y C-M always brings Jerry out of lurk mode.

does he do a chenovettes?
i had one and it was so linear and tight

Thanks for the update on the St Aubin, just picked up a few and did not know what to expect, never tried that one before.

Thanks Don. I had a couple of 12 whites over the weekend and really like how they are starting to drink now. There is plenty of minerality just below the flesh.

He really excels in St. Aubin; remilly and chateniere are terrific.

Don, thanks for the heads-up re performance in the riper vintages. If the 2012s are anything like my 2009s then I will be happy.

Great data point, Don, thanks—what I would expect to see out of the 2012 vintage. Looks and sounds like it was very enjoyable.

haere ra,

I love PYCM wines and bought a bottle from a portion of Remilly that I had never heard of before - 2011 Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin
1er Cru En Remilly Cuvée Nicholas et Mathis. Anyone with experience with this?

Count me as another PYCM fan and all this talk of En Remilly got to me so… I opened an '11 Chassagne Montrachet En Remilly tonight… it was amazing. Splash decanted. First sip was almost a little awkwardly tight - chalky long mineral finish ( and some sulfur)that just hung there for a bit, then it fleshed out SO nicely within 20 minutes. Ripe fruit, a little bit of an oily mouthfeel, great fruit, great balance and a beautiful finish. Wow,

Yes. It’s a cuvee bottled primarily for the RN74 group that leaks its way out to connected retailers. It allegedly comes from the portion of En Remilly closest to Montrachet. The bottles of it that I have had have been absolutely superb, at the level of a good 1er from Puligny or Chassagne. Now, shhhhhh.

Thanks David
